Cakewalk Pro Audio - The all wonderful midi sequencer and composer program. Supports XG and all midi standards. I spend most of the midi sequencing final touches with this program. If you're into serious midi writing, this one is best for you.
Jammer Pro - Great chord-based midi sequencer. Just choose the band members, enter chord series, choose style then you are ready to go. I use this whenever I make an "skeleton" backing track. Good for jamming around.
Power Chords - wonderful sequencer based on guitar emulation. When most of the sequencer programs lack the ability to simulate "real sounding" guitar, this one is excellent. I t lets you enter series of strums, up/down, then use the template on any chordings you want. This program helps me produce real sounding guitar tracks... like I used to play anyway.
Band-in-a-Box - Wanna make music in style of your favorite artists? Use this program to sequence music using only series of chords and type of music. It works in principle very similar to Jammer series but enchanced, with the ability to emulate playing techniques of known musicians like Eric Clapton, B.B. King (those in the blues music), Van Halen and many more.
Real Orche - Into live karaoke music? This one is a great midi-karaoke player. It has an interface emulating audio-visual components just like real sets. I used this a lot when I feel like I want to rain and stormed by stone by our neighbors. Try this and you may end up being a singer!
ICUII - An internet video conferencing software that supports most of the video cards and video camera in the market. It can produce up to 5 frames/second video on a 3.6K modem. It can drain you of your internet connection though.
Gotcha! - You won't believe this program! It can emulate video surveillance camera costing thousands using only a personal computer equipped with vidcam. It can guard a zone and starts recording the sequence only when the view changed, as in when someone walked in the field of view. It can even call police or ring your pager for alert. Good for watching over what your maid is doing when you are not around hehehe!
CyberLink LinkTel - Video conferencing software similar to ICUII but can use ordinary modem-to-modem call. Support H.324 Protocol used for video transmission over ordinary telephone line. Warning though, you need to know if your modem is capable. I never tried this actually.
